I keep wondering how long will consumers (voters) keep believing that this “America first” pablum being fed to them by Trump/Musk will make their lives better and not worse?
Is there a psychological name for this type of delusion?
Phoebe, I've recently been watching Canadian Broadcast Co. news and the peeps in Canada are scared stiff-less concerning these Trump tariffs, there was a featured story on Hamilton Ont., and how the country's largest steel manufacturing city is going to be negatively affected.
I'm certain you know, but I bet many American's don't realize, nor understand, that there are going to be many Republican Trump supporters who will be hard-hit by Trump's war on business with these insane tariffs his administration's implementing....I'm just taking a 'wait-and-see' approach to the whole mess fit all.
BTW, super happy that I recently purchased my previously owned black and beautiful Ford Explorer Limited 4x4....and last summer, my good neighbor had a garage sale with a nice condition Maytag gas dryer which I purchased for $75.00 and it is sitting in my basement just in case my current one goes on the blink... knowing darn well that a new entry level gas Whirlpool dryer these days is upwards near $650.00 at ABC Warehouse.
So...the plan is to move jobs back to US from China, right? The average manufacturing wage here is $34.64/hr. Chinese wage is $6/hr. For the math to work, won't US wages have to go down to at least $10/hr???
My goal with the column was to explain the WHY vs. just share price tips. People too often dismiss important information these days and I work to counteract that response. Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts, Brian.
That’s the main reason we bought a new car now
Very informative story. Thank you.

Yes, it's called the Dunning-Kruger effect and you can find ample, excellent information on this phenomenon on the web.

Great transparency explanation of tariff impact on supply chains in multiple industries, not only finished goods.
What happened to his blabbing about “lower prices on Day 1”? No LOL for us… more like crying out loud now.
