This is an important perspective. Job hopping is viewed derisively by conservative companies in mature industries, which are now often suffering. Part of their issues are lack of infusion of fresh talent and inability to be nimble. 5 years is a long gig in tech and als now he average ceo tenure for public companies.

The future is uncertain. Finding people who can be trusted to navigate uncertainty and dynamic change is the key. So I don’t tend to forecast success and failure when I report. I’d rather tell you who’s in charge and how they think.

I love the story. Well written and insightful. I have worked in the auto industry since 1984. My last auto purchase was an ICE vehicle in 2024. I want the car to stay with me well past 2034. I didn’t choose a BEV for this reason. When I buy a BEV in 2024 will I still be driving it in 2034? The shifting consumer expectation may lead buyers to say they would not want to still be driving the same car 10 years down the road. Perhaps this innovation and change in leadership at Ford will draw more consumers. I might be a little out of touch.
I had the same concern when I replaced my Jeep Grand Cherokee so I leased a Ford Mustang Mach-E. I plan to buy it in July. Cannot fathom driving ICE again. I have cut 2/3 fuel costs and plug in every night when I get home. Whole different driving experience. I feel like tech in ICE is sketchy as much as EV tech infrasturre is uncertain. Dynamic times.

Very insightful - however, we never learned why he left. I hate to see that kind of talent with experience leave Ford.
